let's meet the monkey.

Ask your second grader who this is and what he does and they will be excited to tell you. This is a little monkey that is in Mr. Lewis' classroom. Students know who is he! This little guy hangs above the class, ready to reward these second graders for good behavior, and when then do, THE MONKEY MOVES. The kids know he is there, how to get him to move an arms length on his line, to finally get him to cross the entire class. This is then celebrated with a class party of thier choice. Mr. Lewis expects certain behavior from his class and when he walks into the room or transitions from one thing to the next and if our kids are seated and quiet and showing they are ready to learn without having to be told, then the monkey moves. The first month of school is not even over with and the monkey is over halfway the the end. Our kids are motivated and know what it takes. Common kids, keep working hard to get that monkey to move!!
